Here are some photos of the Erie Canal.

Actually, I don’t think this is the “Erie Canal, Proper” but rather an off-shoot of the main canal. We were at Lock 24 and it is very accessible.

We walked across the lock doors, were able to go right up to all the equipment, take a look at a real old-time barge and speak to the people who worked there. Very interesting place and also a great location for picnics as there are large lawns and peninsulas jutting into the river there.
